EMS, short for "English Market Selection," is a term that has been used in Cuba for more than 100 years to signify cigars chosen specifically for the British market—renowned for their exceptional quality. This designation has played a key role in establishing the UK as a global hub for premium Havana cigars.

In 1993, Hunters & Frankau launched the EMS Stamp as a mark of approval. These stamps are placed on boxes of Havanas that meet the rigorous standards of a UK-based quality check.

Since 1997, the colour of the EMS stamp has been updated annually. Every pack of Havana cigars intended for sale within the UK domestic market carries this distinctive mark.
